Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta (SCAD) Presents “Entwined” by William T. Hillman and Lia Chavez
ATLANTA, Ga.—The SCAD exhibitions department presents “Entwined,” an exhibition showcasing the recent collaboration between artists William T. Hillman and Lia Chavez. “Entwined” presents large-scale photographs depicting choreographed, overlapping bodies that emerge and dissolve in stark silhouettes. Both corporal and cerebral, the imagery evokes the connections between the physical and the psychological. Also entwined is the unique combination of traditional and digital photographic processes used in this innovative body of work.
In a recent catalogue for the Hillman + Chavez collaboration, renowned writer and curator Gary Sangster wrote, “The work of William T. Hillman and Lia Chavez – a first time partnership in creative photography from two artists, one located in New York and the other in London – can be described as the embodiment of a complex hybrid system of contemporary expressive pictorialism.”
The exhibition will be on display at the Trois Gallery at SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St., Jan. 29-Feb. 28. A reception for the artists will be held on Feb. 4, 6 p.m. Opening remarks will be offered by Lia Chavez. The event and exhibition are free and open to the public.
